MEET LOIS

Rep. Lois W. Kolkhorst is a member of the Texas House of Representatives, serving House District 13, which includes Austin, Burleson, Colorado, Fayette, Grimes, Lavaca and Washington Counties, and consists of thousands of square miles of rural Texas from the Brazos Valley to the Coastal Plains.

As Chair of the House Committee on Public Health, she oversees the state's health care system and sets priorities for the Texas Health and Human Services Commission. She is also a member of the House Committee on County Affairs, where she helps solve challenges facing the state's 254 counties, and works closely with the seven rural counties in her district. read more

When our nation takes on a difficult task, the most vital question to ask is, "Who decides?" Today we see a great deal of mistrust in our government. The issue of statesmanship is often sacrificed during a critical political debate where it's more important to score points than to really solve problems. Ceremony Honors All Veterans
The HEARTS Veterans Museum of Texas Grand Opening Ceremony Wednesday was marked by much emotion, with about 700 veterans and dignitaries gathering to celebrate both the opening of the museum and Veterans Day — honoring those past and present who have served their country.

Local Pilot Killed In Vietnam War Laid To Rest
(Dallas, TX) U.S. Air Force Major Dan Miller, who was killed in action during the Vietnam War, is finally home in North Texas. Major Miller was laid to rest at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery this afternoon in a ceremony befitting a warrior. (more)
